Over 7 days, this course builds on the material learned in 101, and comprises the navigation portion of the skills required to bareboat cruise. You will be taught to cruise safely as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary sailboat of 30-50 feet in coastal waters. You will learn the full spectrum of the details involved in chartering, including routine maintenance, sailing a compass course and planning provisioning.
Building on the foundations of Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Passagemaking (ASA 105 Coastal Navigation & ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising) is delivered in a 7 day package, just like our ASA 103/104 Course, Learn to Bareboat. We combine the 105 shore-based theory with a ‘real-time’ practical navigation classroom afloat: learning, reviewing and then performing plotting techniques daily, with an emphasis on underway practice. This course is a full navigation theory and practical classroom.
An advanced cruising standard for individuals with cruising experience. The individual can act as skipper and crew of a 30-50 foot multihull sailboat by day in coastal waters. The standard includes those skills unique to a 30-50 foot multihull.
