Competent Sailor

From the experience you have shared with us, you are able to captain any of our Sunsail monohulls or catamarans within 10 feet of the largest yacht you have previously sailed and stated in your resume.  

This means you can see the world, differently at any of our level 1 destinations listed below.  

It is important to note that some of our destinations do require a formal qualification in addition to adequate sailing experience, please ensure you double check the requirements for your destination.

Level 1 Destinations Lefkas, Greece *  Corfu, Greece *  Agana, Croatia *  Dubrovnik, Croatia *  British Virgin Islands   Whitsundays, Austrailia

Wind: 5-10 knots

Moorings: Predominantly stern-to mooring in the Mediterranean and buoys in the Caribbean.

Qualifications needed: In Lefkas and Corfu, skippers must show proof of your ICC (International Certificate of Competence), International OR NauticEd SLC (International Sailing Licence and Credentials), International    In Agana and Dubrovnik, skippers must show proof a RYA Day Skipper Course Certificate OR ICC (International Certificate of Competence), International OR NauticEd SLC (International Sailing License and Credentials), International OR MCA Master (Yacht less than 500 gt), RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Certificate or above

With daily briefings on your sailing grounds, and support on moorings each evening plus plenty of social activities (if you want to get involved), a flotilla ensures you have a relaxing trip with plenty of help if needed.

Learn to sail

If you are looking to develop your skills, or simply gain a formal qualification after many years of sailing, learning has never been more enjoyable with Sunsail. 

All our courses follow the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) syllabus and are delivered by an RYA instructor. We offer courses in both Greece and Croatia under both our sailing schools and as part of our flotilla hero package.

*If you are interested in chartering in any of our Mediterranean destinations, you will need formal qualifications. Port authorities throughout the Mediterranean require various levels of formal qualifications. In Greece, the skipper should be accompanied by at least one crew member (First Mate) of “Competent Crew” level or a similar/equivalent certification from any recognised sailing association. 

**When adding a skipper to a bareboat, remember that they will require a cabin and provisions for the duration of your charter.
