COVID-19 Travel Restrictions in Belize

We would also advise that you contact your airline for the most up to date information around entry requirements and re-entry to your home country.
While Belize is opening its borders for international travelers, certain Policies and Procedures will need to be followed when entering the country, before, and during your stay there.
Before You Go
Fully Vaccinated Travelers:
Fully vaccinated travelers and children under 5 years old no longer require a negative Covid-19 test result.
Everyone age 5+ must present digital or hardcopy proof of full immunization to waive the testing requirement.
If unable to show proof, the traveller must present proof of a negative PCR result taken within 72 hours of arrival or a negative Antigen Rapid test taken within 48 hours of arrival. A test can be administered by the Ministry responsible for health at the airport at a cost of US$50.00 per person.
Every child under the age of 5 years shall not be subjected to testing for SARSCoV2 upon entry into Belize through airport, land or sea port.
All Tourists entering Belize will be required to purchase travel health insurance even if they have taken out their own personal insurance. https://www.belizetravelinsurance.com/
Partially or Unvaccinated Travelers:
- Unvaccinated travelers age 5+ or those without proof of immunization (age 5+) will need to have a negative test for entry.
- Partially or Unvaccinated travelers must present proof of a rapid Antigen test done within 48 hours prior to arrival, or a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. Anyone who tests positive will be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days at their own expense.
- If you recently recovered, a negative test result will still be required for entry if you are unvaccinated. A negative rapid antigen test is recommended.
All Travelers (vaccinated or unvaccinated) aged 5 years and over:
- Effective Feb. 15, 2022, all travelers are required to apply for Belize Travel Health Insurance – a mandatory insurance that helps protect travelers against incurred medical and non-medical expenses, if they test positive for COVID-19 during their stay in Belize.The cost of the policy is $18 USD and provides coverage for up to $50,000 USD in medical expenses related to treatment of COVID-19 for a period of 21 days.

When You Arrive
- Please list Sunsail as your Gold Standard resort for entry to Belize.
- All travelers must proceed to their approved Gold Standard hotel or yacht and continue their charter.
- Travelers must wear masks in public places
During Your Charter
- No curfew
- Restaurants, saloons and diners are open to fully vaccinated travelers only. You are encouraged to only use Gold Standard restaurants, tour sites, gift shops and certified transportation.
- Facemasks are no longer required outdoors, however are needed for indoors and public spaces.
- We are dedicated to giving you peace of mind when you charter with us. Our industry-leading safety measures include the fogging and disinfecting of all yachts before each charter begins.
Covid-19 Testing Centres in Belize
- Stann Creek Southern Regional Hospital (Contact: 501-522-3835). Please note the Stann Creek region includes Placencia, where a new test center has been established in the village near the public pier. Please anchor in Placencia Harbor and walk (about 300 yards) to the facility where the turnaround time will be around 4 hours, or you can return to the marina and the base will arrange a taxi to take you to the centre.

- The base will assist you by making appointments for your rapid tests.
- If you test positive whilst on charter, you should check with your insurance provider for advice. You can quarantine on your yacht, or if this is no longer available, the base will assist in finding another quarantine facility for you.
