Carried by the steady winds of the Campania region, set off on blue-water passages into the Tyrrhenian Sea launching from our Procida base off the coast of Naples. Explore together navigating the beautiful, remote Phlegraean and volcanic Pontine archipelago. Relax among enchanting waters that boast splendid anchorages, pristine beaches, fascinating archaeological sites and rich Roman history. Plus, your flotilla lead crew will lend support at every step of your Italian coastal vacation.

Procida
Spend the evening in Procida’s pastel-hued marina and embrace yourself for a warm Italian welcome with welcome drinks and pizza party. Things to do
There are lots of things to do close to the port. Relax on the scenic beach of Lingua Beach (which we consider one of the best beaches in Procida) for sunbathing and swimming. You could also wander through the Piazza Marina Grande, and pop into one of the many great bars and restaurants with a great view of the boats.

Procida to Ischia
To launch our journey, we’ll head towards the island of Ischia and drop anchor on the east coast to enjoy lunch up against the medieval Aragonese Castle. Once satiated, set course once more to anchor overnight on the southern coast of the island in Sant’Angelo. Known for its mineral-rich thermal springs thanks to its volcanic legacy, Ischia has stolen many visitors’ hearts with its natural beauty.

Things to do
You could explore the medieval Aragonese Castle all morning – walk through intricate bougainvillea-covered walls that now hold beautiful local exhibitions and international film festivals in the summer. In Sant’Angelo, visit the scenic Torre di Sant or spend some time on Le Fumarole beach, where locals and travellers alike cook fresh seafood on its thermal vapour hot spots!

Ischia to Ventotene
Head far out into the Gulf of Naples to the lively island of Ventotene. Enjoy a straight shot of blue water sailing as you leave Ischia in your wake. Navigate to Porto Romano on the island’s northeast coast. Here, we will moor in safety to explore the peaceful town on the island that boasts brilliantly coloured vegetation and panoramic views.

Things to do
Ventotene is one of the greatest scuba diving spots in Italy, and home to a great diving academy. Explore the wrecks, treasures and marine life of the Ventotene Marine Reserve. Lying directly above Port Romano, the epicentre of Ventotene town is a textbook example of authentic Italian seaside village charm.

Ventotene to Ponza
Situated 25 miles to the west of Ventotene, you’ll find the largest island in the Pontine Islands archipelago, beautiful Ponza. As we mention in our Where to Sail in August blog, this is a true highlight of Procida. This is the next stop in our Procida sailing itinerary – we will moor overnight on the eastern side of the island, giving you plenty of time to enjoy Ponza’s breathtaking natural beauty.

Things to do
There are a number of beautiful sandy beaches here – snorkel the crystal-clear waters and explore the spectacular geological formations Ponza is known for. Enjoy a late lunch on Isola Zannone to the north of Ponza, a rocky islet that’s great for bird watching and offers incredible views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. End the day’s adventures with a group dinner at a local restaurant, where delectable seafood cuisine is satisfying after a splendid day of sailing.

Ponza to Palmarola
Next in our sights is Palmarola, the most westerly of the Pontine Islands. We’ll anchor overnight at this craggy gem of the Mediterranean and discover what kind of treasures lie waiting underwater.

Things to do
Serving primarily as a nature reserve, Palmarola’s coast is dotted with incredible cliffs and grottos, some of which we consider the best places to snorkel and dive in Italy. The clarity and vibrant emerald-green colour of the water is otherworldly. Sites you absolutely must visit include The Rifles – rugged sea stacks and a magical collapsed arch – and Cava Mazzarella, a breathtaking natural cave.

Palmarola to Port of Ischia
Leaving Palmarola in our wake, we’ll break up the day’s journey with a lunch stop at the tiny islet of Santo Stefano, just east of Ventotene. Then we set course for the main port on the northeast coast of the island of Ischia. Mooring overnight, enjoy a sociable happy hour before then strolling the bustling main street riddled with great nightlife and cuisine.

Things to do
The highlight of this stop in our Procida sailing itinerary is Santo Stefano Island – most of this incredible island is privately owned, with the only exception being a long-abandoned prison that’s free for visitors to explore. This incredible abandoned panopticon prison was built in the late 18th century, and the ruins are a great backdrop for some scenic holiday snaps.

Ischia to Procida
We will head back to peaceful Procida for our last night, ending our island-hopping exploration by discovering Marina Corricella, a quaint fishing village which can only be reached by boat or on foot. Enjoy the last group dinner of your Procida sailing itinerary with mouth-watering seafood and local wine at a classic Procidan restaurant.

Get lost in its winding streets and visit the old Royal Palace of Palazzo d’Avalos or wander around its church, Chiesa di Santa Margherita Nuvoa, which boasts beautiful views overlooking Capri
