At Sunsail, we offer two different types of Procida yacht charters:

Procida one-week bareboat

Day 1

Procida – Day 1

Your bareboat sailing adventure begins at our base on picturesque Procida. This rocky islet is home to a ramshackle village of charming Mediterranean homes, sparkling bays and historical architecture dating back to Roman times. Explore the town and tuck into a delicious meal in a local restaurant or head to the historic Terra Murata fort for spectacular views of the town below.

Discover Procida

Corricella Village
To the south of the island, the picturesque fishing village of Corricella offers an insight into Italy’s past, as well as lovely views over the Gulf of Naples.

Day 2

Procida to Porto Romano, Ventotene

Your first day on the water takes you far out into the Gulf of Naples to the little island of Ventotene. You’ll cruise past Ischia’s flawless coastline and enjoy a straight shot of blue water sailing as you leave Procida in your wake. Navigate to Porto Romano on Ventotene’s northeast coast. Here you can moor in safety to explore the pretty little town and visit the interesting Museum of the Sea, or sail along the island’s southern and northern shores in search of quiet bays and beaches.

Wreck diving
Ventoene is home to a diving academy, allowing you to explore the wrecks, treasures and marine life of the Ventotene Marine Reserve.

Suggested lunch spots
Anchor opposite the beautiful Saint Montano Beach on Ischia’s northernmost tip to swim and sunbathe beneath spectacular forested cliffs.

Day 3

Porto Romano to Ponza

Today you’ll sail to the next island in the Pontine chain, beautiful Ponza 25 miles to the west. Let the Tyrrhenian slip away beneath your keel until Ponza grows larger in the distance. Anchor at Frontone Bay on the eastern side of the island or continue around to Chiaia di Luna in the west. Both offer sheltered anchorage and allow you to explore the bays, beaches and spectacular geological formations Ponza is known for. The snorkelling in Ponza’s crystal clear waters is excellent.

Discover Ponza

The Roman tunnel
Walk the Roman tunnel connecting Chiaia di Luna to the beach and you’ll see artefacts dating back thousands of years.

Suggested lunch spots
Enjoy a late lunch on Isola Zannone to the north of Ponza. This rocky islet is great for bird watching and offers incredible views across the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Day 4

Ponza

Enjoy a second day in remote, scenic Ponza, exploring the many hidden coves and caves of this spectacular island. Moor at Ponza harbour and walk streets of pastel coloured houses and traditional churches climbing the island’s low hills. Stay on Ponza or take a day trip to the nearby island of Palmarola, a nature reserve of incredible cliffs and grottos where you can dive and snorkel the life rich Tyrrhenian Sea.

Discover Ponza

Suggested lunch spots
Take your lunch on the island of Palmarola, the most westerly of the Pontine Islands. Anchor in the Cala del Porto Bay for a relaxed lunch in the splendour of this island nature reserve.

Day 5

Ponza to Sant'Angelo, Ischia

Relish the opportunity to experience a day of open water sailing across the boundless Tyrrhenian Sea. Enjoy a long spell of blue water cruising from Ponza to Ischia, setting off early to enjoy the fantastic sailing conditions of western Italy. Bask in the freedom of open water sailing as you cruise past Ventotene Island towards Ischia, where you’ll moor in the marina at Sant’ Angelo. Spend the late afternoon lounging on the beach or relaxing in a local bar after your long spell on the water.

Discover Sant' Angelo

Sorgeto Bay
A short sail west from Sant’ Angelo is the beautiful bay of Sorgeto. Here, thermal waters from Ischia’s volcanic heart flow into the ocean, creating a beautifully warm environment for swimming and snorkelling.

Suggested lunch spots
Break up your journey with a stop at the tiny Santo Stefano islet to the east of Ventotene. Here you’ll find an incredible abandoned panopticon prison dating from the late 18th century.

Day 6

Sant' Angelo to Marina Grande, Capri

A short cruise southeast from Ischia takes you to the glamorous island of Capri. Make for Marina Grande on the island’s north coast, where you’ll find a bustling marina filled with superyachts, pleasure boats and other playthings of the rich and famous. Capri is an island of spectacular scenery, with high cliffs, hidden grottos and unusual rock formations making the island ideal for hikers and explorers. If you’d like a quieter place to overnight, then Marina Piccola on the southern side of the island offers more secluded anchorage.

Discover Marina Grande

The Blue Grotto
Head to the northwest of Capri for the famous Blue Grotto, where the strong Mediterranean sun bounces off the cavern floor to create ethereal turquoise illuminations.

Suggested lunch spots
Anchor beneath the impressive cliffs of Cala del Lupinaro on the west coast of Capri for a peaceful and secluded lunch away from the hustle and bustle.

Day 7

Marina Grande to Procida

Cruise back across the Gulf of Naples towards our base on Procida. The final day of your Italian bareboat charter holiday sees you sail the true-blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea one last time before returning home. Make the most of your last day in the Phlegraean Islands to explore glamorous Capri or scenic Procida, stopping off at quiet bays and beaches for a swim or settling down in sleepy restaurants for one last taste of delicious Italian cuisine.

Procida One-week bareboat (Option 2)

Day 1

Procida

Start your adventure in the marina of Procida. Home to the Moorings base in the Bay of Naples and known as The Girlfriend of the Sea, Procida is a noteworthy destination, with pristine white-sand beaches, excellent restaurants, eclectic shops, and the Old World charm of quaint waterfront villages.

No moorings are available. While it’s possible to anchor off Procida, most sailors tie up at the marina.

Discover

Procida is only 2.4 square miles in area, and yet it is the most densely populated of the islands lying offshore of Naples. Long a favored fishing port, the tradition of fishing that began with the Greeks and Romans lives on in the seaside village of Corricella, where you can walk along the waterfront and admire the utilitarian beauty all around you as the fishermen mend nets on the wharves and a balmy breeze ushers in the tang of the fabled Tyrrhenian Sea. Of particular interest is Terra Murata (meaning walled up land). It was the first settlement on Procida built at the highest point on the island at 298 feet above sea level to provide the best defense against Saracen raiders. A stroll to the settlement will reward you with marvelous views of the surrounding waters. Several of the popular beaches include Chiaia, Chiaiolella, and Pozzo Vecchio.

Day 2

Ischia

For centuries Ischia has been known as the Green Island for its lush Mediterranean vegetation and thick pine forests. Another name used is the Island of Well Being for its rejuvenating hot springs and thermal baths said to have the power to heal the sick. It was an important port through the ages, a trading centre first for the Greeks, who anchored in the bays nearly 3,000 years ago, then for the Romans, and many others. Ischia is still important as the largest of the Phlegraean Islands (Procida and uninhabited Vivara are the other two) and as an exclusive tourist destination with six villages and towns. Ischia is a delight for the senses.

Moorings are available at Lacco Ameno and there is also a marina. Porto d’Ischia is the main harbor on the island, followed by Casamicciola and Forio. The small port of Saint’ Angelo is highly recommended; it gets crowded on weekends. A particularly beautiful beach lies on the north side of the island at the bay of Cala di San Montano. You can also anchor off the north and south sides of Castello d’Ischia, with marvelous views of the impressive castle.”

Discover Ischia

Ischia, a volcanic island known for its natural beauty and rich history, is famous for its geothermal hot springs. The thermal gardens at Negombo in Lacco Ameno and Poseidon Gardens in Forio offer the perfect opportunity to relax and rejuvenate in the island’s healing waters. Along the coast, hot springs flow into the Tyrrhenian Sea, creating warm zones ideal for swimming, even in winter. Marina di Sorgeto is a popular spot for this natural wonder.

A visit to Castello d’Ischia, an Aragonese castle built in 1438, is a must. Climb to the top for stunning panoramic views of the island.

Explore Ischia
Ischia’s rugged coastline, with dramatic cliffs and pristine beaches, offers breathtaking scenery. The heights of Monte Epomeo, towering 2,582 feet, provide exceptional views of the island and the surrounding waters. The island is renowned for its wellness offerings, including thermal baths, mud treatments, and luxurious spas like Negombo and Poseidon Gardens.

For history lovers, explore Castello d’Ischia, the Farmer’s Museum, the Museum of the Sea, and the Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae to learn about the island’s rich cultural heritage. For a relaxing day, head to Maronti Beach or take a yacht charter to explore the coast at your leisure.”

Day 3

Capri

The jewel of Southern Italy, Capri Island yacht charters are a wonderful experience. Sheer cliffs, rocky outcrops, and high hills loom above the horizon as you approach the island. Once you are there, Capri Town’s numerous fashionable boutiques and upmarket restaurants make for enjoyable browsing. The centre of the town is Piazza Umberto, a public square with narrow streets and alleys leading to new discoveries. Historic sites, hiking trails, and scenic anchorages are just some of the pleasures of Capri Island sailing.

Moorings are available in the harbor of Capri, though this is a busy and expensive location. It is difficult to find a berth. There are few places to anchor at Capri because of the deep water. The best anchorage is at Marina Piccola on the south side of the island.

Amalfi

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful 50 kilometre stretch of mountainous coastline situated on the Sorrento peninsula between Sorrento and Salerno, just south of Naples, in the region of Campania. This coastline is dotted with small picturesque villages and towns stacked precariously on steep, pale rocky cliffs plunging sheer into the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 7

Positano – Ischia

From Positano, head back to Ischia. Ischia is a large island of rich vegetation with an ever-changing landscape. It is situated only 3 miles from our base in Procida, making it a great final stop on the way back to base. Visit an extinct volcano, and the promenade of Mt Epomeo offers spectacular views and excellent restaurants. There are many beautiful beaches and bays around Ischia and its principal attraction is the thermal springs. The many hot springs gushing out at high, medium and even cold temperatures are rich in minerals and for centuries have helped people with a variety of illnesses. There are many natural springs around the coast and also thermal gardens which have many different types of water therapy, swimming pools and beach access.

Italian Cuisine Procida Flotilla

Procida

Spend the evening in Procida’s pastel-hued marina, nestled on the northeast corner of the island. Brace yourself for a warm welcome with a refreshing drink and pizza party as you get to know your new flotilla companions at our base. Sleep on board your yacht and wake up to your morning flotilla yacht briefing.

Day 5

Amalfi to Capri

Move on from Ischia towards Capri, where you will be free to explore the island’s picturesque blue grottos and ancient Roman ruins. As we mention on our Where to Sail in Italy blog, Capri is one of the best places to sail for culture.

Since this is your last chance to experience Ischia, we recommend taking some time to relax and take in the sights – sunbathe on Pescatori Beach, opposite the Aragonese Castle, and visit the Bay of Sorgeto (which we consider one of the best beaches in Procida, and one of the best beaches in Italy) to soak in the famous thermal baths.

Ischia Port to Procida
