Our 4-Hour Commitment

We maintain our fleet to the highest standards so you can make the most of your time on the water. However, if you have a breakdown or technical problems, please contact your base team so we can support you.
For essential equipment we provide a 4-Hour Commitment. This means we will attend to the yacht within four working hours of you notifying us of the breakdown of any essential equipment (judged by the opening hours of the base reception).
*We are able to support you with the breakdown of unessential equipment too, however, this may not be attended to within 4 hours of us being notified.
Our 4-Hour Commitment covers all essential operating equipment, including:
- Engine
- Transmission
- Windlass
- Sails
- Standing and running rigging
- Battery and alternator
What We Will Do
If you encounter a breakdown of any of the essential equipment detailed above, we will arrive to your yacht within 4 working hours of receiving your call (judged by the opening hours of the base reception).
For any lost sailing time relating to the above equipment, we will review this on a case-by-case basis and compensation may be awarded. All compensation of this nature will be provided as a credit certificate.
What We Ask You To Do
To receive guaranteed service on your charter, you must contact the base at the time of breakdown, problem or dissatisfaction. All grievances must be presented by the head charterer at the end of the charter and agreed upon by Sunsail or Sunsail Preferred Partner prior to the customers departure from the marina.
We are able to support you with the breakdown of unessential equipment too, however, this may not be attended to within 4 hours of us being notified.
What this commitment Does Not Cover
All breakdowns will be serviced. However, compensation will not be provided for the breakdown of any non-essential equipment.
Unessential equipment includes:
- Generator and electrical equipment
- Cellular phones
- VHF
- Refrigeration
- Air conditioning
- CD player / Bluetooth Speaker
- Marine toilets
- Water maker
- Water pump
- Dinghy and outboard
- Depth and speed instruments
We want to make sure your sailing holiday is fun, memorable and successful. So if you have any problems during your yacht charter, please call us.
Sunsail or Sunsail Preferred Partner will make every effort to repair these types of problems as soon as possible, if the charterer chooses; however, charterers may be asked to move to an anchorage that is more accessible to our repair team.
Exclusions
- The yacht must be within a twenty mile radius of the companies base for the policy to be applicable.
- All Partner bases are excluded from the 4 hour commitment policy.
- Exumas exceptions – while we will always do our best to assist you promptly, please note that due to the remote nature and wide distances within the Exumas cruising grounds, we cannot guarantee service within 4 hours in all areas. That said, if any essential equipment requires repair, rest assured that we will make every effort to reach you as quickly as conditions allow.
- If you plan to sail outside our defined sailing area you will not be covered
- Also not covered are breakdowns that occur outside the defined sailing hours (8am-5pm), problems due to user negligence, bad weather, or force majeure.
