After pushing off from the Sunsail base, indulge in your first taste of warm Caribbean trade winds as you set sail to Peter Island. Located just south of Tortola, this offshore oasis is the largest island in the BVI that boasts some of the world’s most beautiful anchorages. Upon arrival, your flotilla will be welcomed ashore with a punch party followed by a BBQ hosted by your lead crew. You can also enjoy a scenic hike to the top of the island, where spectacular panoramic views await and wild goats roam free.

After breakfast, say farewell to Leverick Bay then take the helm and sail 13nm to discover the low-lying coral-rich island of Anegada. Unlike other islands formed from volcanic rock, Anegada’s coral and limestone base features vibrant reefs and abundant marine life below the surface. Anchor at Setting Point and go ashore to explore – perhaps with a car or scooter rental. Catch glimpses of rare rock iguanas and exotic birds at Nutmeg Point, or stop at the salt ponds and view the resident flamingos. In the evening, enjoy a famous Anegada Lobster dinner under a canopy of stars.

Begin day six at sea with a westbound passage towards the picture perfect sands of Jost Van Dyke. Known to many as “barefoot” island, this is the smallest of the four main British Virgin Islands, where you’ll also find some of our favorite seaside establishments like Foxy’s Tamarind Bar and Soggy Dollar Bar, home of the world-famous “Painkiller” cocktail. Hiking is another favorite activity at Jost Van Dyke, and the thrill-seeking adventurers in your group can even book a guided ATV excursion.

Today is your flotilla free day, so you can go off and discover new anchorages on your own, make your way back to the charter base for an early flight, or continue circumnavigating your way south to Peter Island’s westerly neighbor – Norman Island. This southernmost region of the cruising grounds is also storied to be the inspiration behind Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island classic. With a number of underwater caves and secluded coves to explore, the snorkeling and diving at Norman Island are both superb. The Indians are an idyllic place to stop for lunch and a visit to Pirate’s Bight beach bar is a must during any BVI vacation.
