Affectionately referred to as Statia, this is as close as you’ll get to Caribbean life from ages past, where the people are warm, the pace is unhurried and crowds are virtually non-existent.

Visit the spectacular walk-in volcano, which rises in a perfect cone to 2000 feet. The clear waters reveal some exceptional reefs and hundreds of fish, perfect for diving and snorklling, and Statia’s National Parks are habitat for a number of endangered species including the rare Antillean iguana. For a scenic spot, head up to Fort de Windt, an 18th century fort with a great view of neighboring St. Kitts.
