August 19 - 27, 2011
Hamilton Island Race Week is Australia's largest offshore yachting regatta, as a result of the stunning location and the inclusion of sailors' families and friends. The event dates back to 1984 and is renowned as much for its carnival atmosphere as for the racing itself.
The Hamilton Island Race Week event is hosted by Hamilton Island Yacht Club each August, to take advantage of seasonal southeast winds and minimal rainfall. Approximately 250 boats race amongst the backdrop of the unique Great Barrier Reef in this truly international regatta.
During Hamilton Island Race Week, the Marina Village offers live music, food stalls as well as a full line-up of shoreside activities to accommodate sailors' families and friends. Evening entertainment and a lay-day allow racing crews to join in the fun on land.
