General Conditions

The Solent, often described as a paradise for sailors, is the ideal location for an UK bareboat sailing vacation. The Solent (30 miles in length and 4 miles wide) lies off the South Coast of England between the mainland and the Isle of Wight, protected by both. 

The weather is generally temperate in summer (average temp: 64 F/18 C). Tidal range is approximately 3 feet (4 meters). Due to the surrounding topography, the winds can be variable and challenging, one of the reasons for The Solent’s longstanding popularity with experienced sailors.

Winds on average range from 5 - 25 Knots (5 - 27 mph) and prevail from the South West.
