Overview
On the northwest coast of Sicily, Palermo is a place where Roman, Greek, Arab and Norman cultures meet. Palermo is the capital of Sicily and is located in a marvelous inlet by Monte Pellegrino, self-described as 'the most beautiful promontory in the world'. Sicily is well known for its unique natural beauty and the highest active volcano in Europe 'Mount Etna'. The coast offers a landscape of fascinating beauty, with smaller islets scattered all around the coast.
From Sunsail's base, sail between history and nature and uncover the Aegadean Islands – Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo. From here, you could head towards the heart of the Tirreno in the direction of Ustica – paradise on Earth, with many diving opportunities, and a very beautiful natural reserve. Alternatively, you could sail southwards to Pantelleria, Lampedusa and Linosa islands where the sea is as old as the world. Set sail from these islands and the coasts of Malta and Tunisia are easily reachable.
A Sicily sailing vacation takes you to the stunningly beautiful Egadi Islands west of Palermo, and to the picturesque harbors of the Sicilian coast. Both the islands and the coastal cruising grounds are enchanting. They blend the bustle of chic ports such as Palermo with the quiet ambience of small fishing villages on remote and scenic islands. Swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing on pristine beaches is delightful. Palaces and cathedrals, fascinating archaeological sites, and historic islands and coastal towns with fine restaurants serving exquisitely prepared local cuisine are among the many pleasures you will enjoy on a Sicilian Yacht Charter.
