Possibly the most unspoilt island in the Caribbean, the British Commonwealth island of Dominica is a nature lover’s paradise. The sparsely populated Les Saintes offers a charming welcome to visiting sailors. Savour the sights and smells of local fishing ports and colorful markets.

Rated as one of the best dive sites in the world by its namesake, the Jacques Cousteau reserve is home to an abundance of colorful coral forests and multicolored marine life. Spending a few hours snorkeling or diving these waters close to Pigeon Island, home to the famous Cousteau Underwater Park, is an experience not to be missed.

The Bas du Fort base at the fully equipped marina in Gosier is part of a large complex with a selection of cafés, bakeries and excellent restaurants. There is a marina supermarket approximately 10 minutes walk from the base and a larger supermarket approximately 5 minutes away by taxi.

A trip to Pointe-a-Pitre will take you into the lively atmosphere of the traditional Creole fruit and vegetable markets. From the base, exhilarating open-water sailing encompassing Iles des Saintes, Marie Galante and Dominica, offering the chance to see some of the most undeveloped islands and amazing rainforests that the Caribbean has to offer.

    Basse-Terre affords sailors the opportunity to explore the national park located in the interior of the island. The famous Carbet Waterfalls and the active volcano of La Soufriere are both must-sees and there are exhilarating hikes through extraordinary scenery, although some are not for the faint-hearted!
