Thailand
Phuket From Sunsail’s beautiful island base on Phuket, discover one of the world’s truly breathtaking cruising destinations. Sunsail Thailand has trained thousands of students from all over the world to successfully gain their RYA qualifications in this incredible setting on an experience that is more often described as a sailing holiday than a sailing school course. You’ll have so much fun in such stunning surroundings that you hardly notice you’re gaining valuable knowledge and, hopefully, a qualification at the end of your trip. All instruction in Thailand is given in English by RYA qualified skippers.
The sailing areaPeace and tranquillity amidst dramatic scenery and beautiful beaches, friendly faces and mouth-watering cuisine – that’s what’s in store on your sailing course out of Phuket. From May to October the weather is warm with occasional spells of rain so it is recommended that you take lightweight waterproof jackets. The seas tend to be reasonably calm and the southwest winds are ideal for learning to sail or improving your skills in a tropical climate.
Phuket and the islandsThe modern holiday resort of Phuket attracts travellers and sailors from all over the world, all year round. Boat Lagoon has a 200 room hotel where you can extend your stay and explore the night market in Phuket town or the many wonderful beaches and cultural experiences on offer.
There are plenty of comfortable overnight stops, all at anchor, and a good variety of options for dining ashore. During your sailing course you will visit the island of Koh Phi Phi and the unspoilt Koh Dam Group for great snorkelling and swimming before entering the Krabi river for a breathtaking night sail. Dine ashore at the beautiful Koh Yao resort and BBQ on board in the stunning cruising area of Phang Nga Bay against a backdrop of giant limestone rocks rising out of emerald waters. On your last day, sail south back to base passing Koh Phing Kan, the world famous James Bond Island, Koh Hong and Koh Rang Yai before returning to the marina for berthing practice.
