RYA GMDSS Radio Course

This course teaches the use of the low power, short range marine GMDSS VHF Radio, hand held or fixed type of vessel. It covers the syllabus needed to attain the Short Range Certificate for VHF GMDSS radio including routine procedures for communicating with other vessels, harbour masters, coastguards, marinas, and yacht clubs. The course will consist of instruction and assessment.

Pre-course experience
None although we recommend that you study the RYA booklet G22/02 VHF Radio (including GMDSS) for Yachtsmen before you attend the course. This book is available from Sunsail at a cost of £7.50 or from the RYA direct.

To follow the correct procedure when using the VHF radio
