Overview

Sunsail’s RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is a fully comprehensive, five day, shore-based course, available only in the UK.

It is designed to equip students with the information needed to be safe on the water. The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is a recognised qualification covering chart work, tidal systems, seamanship, meteorology and collision regulations.

The course also deals with coming in and out of the harbour and the factors to consider when looking for an anchorage. 

The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course aims to teach students how to apply theoretical knowledge to their practical sailing skills and is recommended prior to taking the Day Skipper Practical Course.

Over 5 days, or 40 hours, you will gain an RYA qualification, accompanied by the knowledge and understanding of chart work, seamanship, meteorology and collision regulations.

The RYA Day Skipper Theory course will illustrate how to safely get in and out of the harbour, as well as the factors to consider when looking for an anchorage.
