Level 1 sailing courses are suited to beginners and to sailors who are already familiar with the basics of sailing and have some previous experience.
Sunsail Level 1 Courses are intermediate level courses designed to help novice sailors to improve on their skills and add to their knowledge and confidence to take their sailing further, perhaps in readiness for one of Sunsail’s Flotilla or Yacht Charter vacations.
On a Sunsail Level 1 course, our fully qualified ASA instructors will take students on from a basic level of understanding and competence to a position where they feel ready to take on a more challenging sailing experience. This opens a whole new range of sailing destinations for you to choose from.
The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is a fully comprehensive, 5 day, shore-based course, available only in the UK. It is designed to equip yachtsmen with the insight and skills to enable them to make good decisions and stay safe at sea and provides them with an official RYA qualification.
This two-day Level 1 Sailing Course is designed to give students a basic insight into navigation and safety at sea. Some previous sailing experience is recommended, and is ideal for those who have reached Competent Crew level but are not yet ready to take their Day Skipper theory.
The Sunsail International Certificate of Competence course is an internationally recognized certificate, providing documentary assurance from one government to another that the holder meets an agreed level of competence.
Building on the foundations of Bareboat Chartering, Coastal Passagemaking (ASA 105 Coastal Navigation & ASA 106 Advanced Coastal Cruising) is delivered in a 7 day package, just like our ASA 103/104 Course, Learn to Bareboat. We combine the 105 shore-based theory with a ‘real-time’ practical navigation classroom afloat: learning, reviewing and then performing plotting techniques daily, with an emphasis on underway practice. This course is a full navigation theory and practical classroom.
