Milina Flotilla Sailing Vacation

Overview

Sunsail’s Sporades base is at Milina, an attractive village located on the unspoilt eastern shores of the Gulf of Volos.

This is the gateway to the Sporades which consist of 11 islands – some busy, others remote - renowned for golden beaches, crystal clear waters and an abundance of quaint villages.

These islands are more lush than the southern islands of the Aegean – often forested all the way down to the beaches, one of the most famous of which is Koukanaries on Skiathos, said to be one of the best in all Greece.

A Milina flotilla vacation is suitable for confident sailors looking for more of a challenge.

  • Ideal for the more experienced sailor
  • Island hopping
  • Wonderful beaches
  • Azure blue seas
  • Mountainous backdrops

Sailing in Milina Sporades

The seas of the Gulf of Volos tend to be sheltered, with winds ranging from 10 – 20 knots ( 11 - 23 mph), but in July and August the winds of the Meltemi from the North-east can be strong, making Milina flotilla sailing suitable for experienced sailors looking for some exhilarating sailing.

There are a good variety of short and long hops, with line-of-sight navigation throughout. Summer weather is generally sunny and warm, with temperatures averaging 86 F (30 C).

What's included ?

Milina Sporades Highlights

A Milina flotilla vacation allows sailors the opportunity to enjoy superb sailing conditions while exploring golden beaches, picturesque towns and some of the most spectacular scenery in Greece.

  • Glossa Skopelos

As you sail east from Skiathos on a Glossa Skopelos yacht charter watch out for dolphins – they like it here as much as we do! Skopelos is also where the film version of Mamma Mia was shot. As Glossa is one of the sleepiest towns in the Sporades, the nightlife is relatively low-key.

  • Koukounaries Skiathos

A Koukounaries Skiathos yacht charter is made for beach bums - the lush, verdant island is famous for having some of the best beaches in the Sporades. Koukounaries itself has lovely golden sand, clear shallow azure water that’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling, good watersports facilities and enough little cantinas serving drinks and snacks to ensure that you won’t go hungry.

  • Milina

Enjoy a delicious meal and a few drinks at one of the excellent tavernas in Milina – regarded as one of the loveliest villages on the Gulf of Volos - before setting sail on your Milina yacht charter on a journey of discovery through the lush, magnificent islands of the Sporades.

  • Paleo Trikeri Gulf of Volos

Moor your Paleo Trikeri Gulf of Volos yacht charter at the tiny port of Al Yianni and walk along a path for a mile or so to explore the lovely 19th century Evangelistrias monastery with its fine marble mosaics. There’s not much else happening on Paleo Trikeri, but the island’s few tavernas do a good job at looking after visiting charterers and keeping them well fed and drinks served.
