Overview

Grenada, the spice island of the Caribbean, lies at the southernmost tip of the Windward Islands. Just a short hop from neighboring Carriacou, Petite Martinique and St. Vincent, this untouched island offers a true taste of the Caribbean. Grenada is the perfect location to start your 2-week Flotilla Sailing adventure through the Windward Islands.

This two week Flotilla offers the opportunity to explore Grenada, as well as the 30 islands collectively known as the Grenadines, each with their own individual charm and character. For the nature lovers, this is paradise! It's possible to encounter turtles, dolphins and even whales as you sail.

Grenada itself is a rolling mountainous island that’s home to natural parks and tropical rainforest with hidden waterfalls that cascade into clear shimmering pools of water.  In fact, one-sixth of Grenada’s landmass is made up of preserved parks and natural wildlife sanctuaries.  More than 40 picturesque white and black sand beaches are spread across Grenada’s coastline, some of which have been voted the world’s best.

Lapped by tropical turquoise waters, try as hard as you might, you won’t be able to resist taking a dip as soon as you arrive at Sunsail’s base in Port Louis Marina.  Pristine reefs, colorful coral gardens and untouched sunken shipwrecks surrounding the shores make for irresistible snorkeling and scuba diving.

Sailing in Grenada

With blue water sailing and sheltered island cruising, Grenada Flotilla sailing offers superb conditions for the more experienced sailors, while the support of your lead crew will assist less experience sailors in exploring the beauty of the Windwards. The summer Flotilla season offers more relaxed, Caribbean-style sailing. Wind speeds range between 15 and 25 knots (17 – 29 mph) and temperatures average out at 84 F (29 C).

    A Flotilla Sailing Vacation  to Clifton Harbor will take you to paradise. Union Island is proud of its stunning beaches, welcoming locals, bustling town and choice of activities to suit every need.  Located on the eastern coast, Clifton Harbor is just a few miles from Tobago Cays, Mayreau and Petit St. Vincent.

  • Prickly Bay

    Prickly Bay on the southern coast of Grenada is a magnet for the sailing community and a wonderful place to stop-over as you explore this magical coastline on a Grenada Flotilla Vacation.  There are shops, bars and restaurants a plenty. Nearby is Grand Anse Beach, one of the ten best in the world, and the open-air market at St. George’s.

  • Carriacou Island

    A stunning paradise awaits snorkelers and divers on a Flotilla to Carriacou, which is home to some of the Caribbean’s most pristine reefs, and all are waiting to be discovered. This is an island rich in its traditions, proud of its folklores and ever-welcoming to the passing sailor. Carriacou is known for its beaches. Paradise Beach, located in Hillsboro Bay is stunning and worth exploring. Sandy Island, also in Carriacou, is a marine preserve with exotic marine life that rivals Tobago Cays.
