General Conditions

The British Virgin Islands (BVIs) lie in the northeast Caribbean in the Lesser Antilles and offer some of the finest sailing conditions and protected sailing in the world. Flotilla sailing in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) gives you the opportunity for easy deep-water island hops between plentiful sheltered anchorages.

Steady trade winds from the north-east in winter, range from 15 to 25 knots although are occasionally stronger during the Christmas period, with 10 – 15 knots from the south-east in the summer months.

The tidal range is approximately 12 - 18 inches (30 – 45cm). This is a destination for sailors with basic competence and some previous experience.
