A bustling, cosmopolitan town steeped in Georgian and Victorian architecture with quaint cobbled streets that are lined with picturesque boutiques and sophisticated luxurious yachting attire, this vibrant town has plenty to see and do. There’s a colorful street market held every Saturday, with stalls selling everything from plants and fresh fish to craft, bric-a-brac and antiques.
Just a short walk from the town's harbor area, ideal for sitting down relaxing and watching the world sail by, are the historic outdoor Roman seawater baths - perfect for chilling out in on a hot summers day. You’ll be sure of a good meal here too with numerous bars and restaurants to choose from, offering a mix of local delicacies such as freshly caught crab, lobster and prawns to more traditional fare with a twist.
Heading further afield, Lymington is the gateway from the Solent to the surrounding New Forest, England’s smallest National Park. Rent a bike and discover the many miles of car-free cycle paths, but don’t forget to keep an eye out for the resident New Forest ponies which roam wild here. If the lure of the sea calls and you’re feeling adventurous, head west along the coast, past the iconic Needles and onto the picturesque harbors and anchorages of Dartmouth or Salcombe.
