Gubang Darat, Monkey Creek Yacht Charters

Gubang Darat is an islet on the southwestern part of Dayang Bunting lying approximately 10 nautical miles from the Sunsail’s Malaysia base at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club. The island of Dayang Bunting is known to be the second largest island of the Langkawi archipelago and owes its name to Tasik Dayang Bunting (literally meaning Lake of the Pregnant Maiden), which is the largest lake of Langkawi.

The lake together with the island is shrouded in a legend, taking you back in time to the world of nymphs and genies. It states that the fairy princess fell in love with a mortal prince and married him. The princess conceived a child soon after, but lost the child just after birth. It is said that the anguished mother chose the lake to bury her child. As she buried the child in the water he turned in to a white crocodile.  The fairy princess blessed the waters that any woman, who is unable to conceive, will be rewarded with a child if she drinks from the lake and while we can't guarantee that this will work, it makes a great story!

The lake is set in the middle of the island and is surrounded by tropical rainforests. When seen from the sea the physical appearance of the island itself resembles a pregnant woman lying down on her back. This mystical island is also known for its limestone hills, dense forests and exotic animals. The beaches are exquisite and the swimming and snorkeling some of the best in the area.
