The approach to Maninita is spectacular; the seawater glistens off the surrounding intricate net of reefs, giving an illusion of differing sea levels and the appearance that you are sailing up a flight of coral stairs. Once you have arrived at the island you’ll be rewarded with a stunning white sugar-sand beach lined with rich tropical vegetation and the majestic green leafed Puko trees; providing much needed dappled shade from the warm Tongan sun.
Maninita is most famous for its rare seabird-breeding environment and budding ornithologists should keep their eyes out for the Brown Boobies, magnificent Frigate birds and the peculiar Small White Tern; who instead of laying her eggs in a nest prefers to ‘glue’ them to a tree branch and perch on top until they hatch. But it’s not just what’s above the water that’s special about your Maninita yacht charter.
This ancient forested coral atoll makes for some thrilling snorkeling opportunities, as you delve deep into the reef amongst the rainbow of aquatic life, it wouldn’t be out of place to find tiny iridescent blue damsels or colorful shoals of parrot fish which dart past you as you swim by. If all of that sounds like too much hard work, simply head back onboard for a relaxing evening as you dine al-fresco with a refreshing cocktail, admiring the panoramic views from the deck.
The best anchorage can be found over sand in the center of the lagoon
