The pearl of Polynesia, Bora Bora is one of the most naturally beautiful islands in the South Pacific. Formed out of the crater from an extinct volcano, the main island rises majestically skywards from the surrounding turquoise lagoon. Fringed by a colorful coral reef and string of low-lying atolls, sailing in these waters is a yachtsman’s paradise.
One of the highlights of your charter is sure to be a visit to Bora Bora Yacht Club. Located just inside the only channel entering the lagoon, it’s a favorite spot for globe trotting cruisers, who come to sample the many cocktails and fine food on offer. The anchorage is deep and the water is clear blue making it the perfect spot for a swim before lunch. The yacht club itself is very romantic with a thatched roof and fantastic candle-lit waterside dinning setting. The food is superb and the cocktail list long, at weekends there’s live music and with a friendly atmosphere, you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from this idyllic resort.
If you feel like venturing further afield, just a few miles along the coast is the main town of Vaitape. Here you'll find a few boutique shops selling souvenirs and traditional wares. It’s also a good place to stock up on provisions. On the south side of the town is a rough trail leading up to the summit of Mt Pahia from which you’ll get stunning views out across the lagoon and the rest of the island. Before dusk, head back to the yacht club and continue to make your way through the cocktail list while soaking up another amazing Polynesian sunset.
