Spend a castaway day on this secluded little island just a short hop south from Shaw Island. Part of the Lindeman group, this isle is not often visited by day trippers due to it’s southerly location which means if you’re lucky you’ll get your own private island to feel like a real Robinson Crusoe.
Take advantage of this and explore ashore where you’ll find the landscape rich in flora and fauna and hundreds of delicate native orchids bloom just above the beautiful sandy beaches. Colorful coral reefs fringe the island and offer a rocky border to the deep blue Coral Sea beyond.
Stop to admire the sparkling azure waters and the rainbow of aquatic life teaming below, the snorkeling is superb and the visibility good and it wouldn’t be out of place to see parrotfish, blue damsels, angelfish and barracuda all swimming by. It’s a moment you won’t want to forget so bring your underwater camera with you. Watch out as you paddle your way back to shore and you might just spot a turtle feeding in the surrounding waters.
At the end of the day, head back on board for a well-deserved sundowner as you dine al-fresco gazing out across the waters and watch another glorious Australian sunset from the deck. A truly unforgettable moment.
