Sunsail’s base at Turgutreis near Bodrum is the starting point for an exploration of the Bodrum Peninsula, incorporating the Gulf of Gulluk to the north and the Gulf of Gokova to the south. Turgutreis lies on Turkey’s Carian Coast, where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean. The town is the second largest on the peninsula and popular with vacationers from around Europe – it’s comprised of a grid of streets packed with hotels that lead down to a cobbled esplanade and a small beach.
The town has dozens of restaurants and bars, so plan on enjoying a traditional meal and a few drinks on the night of your arrival to get you into the vacation mood before you embark. There is also good shopping for souvenirs. Beautiful beaches nearby at Aspat, Akyarlar and Huseyin Feneri are worth checking out too. The new yacht marina is well-equipped to cater to the demands of visiting charterers and the Saturday market in town and the numerous other shops are ideal for stocking up on provisions before you set sail on your Turgutreis yacht or flotilla charter.
