Polemous Buku is a long inlet lying at the western end of Kekova Roads, the channel that lies between the island of Kekova Adasi and the heavily indented coast of the mainland, which can be entered from either the eastern or western end. The waters are calm here, with numerous well-protected anchorages.
The slopes that lead down to the sea are covered in maquis and olive groves; the coastline is dotted with the remains of Lycian settlements. Some of these are romantically sited underwater and are best explored by sea kayak – the Sunken City that lies off the coast of Kekova is the most famous. There are the ruins of several settlements that can be visited on land too – Teimussa, Simena and Aperlae being just a few that are easily accessible from Ucagiz, which is a short sail away on a Polemous Buku yacht charter.
