Close to Levkas, Meganissi is a large, unspoiled island with a magical landscape but few facilities. Many of the locals are newly returned émigrés from Australia who make their living from fishing and farming.
Vathy and Spartahori are two charming places to stop. There is a lovely walk from Spilia, the little cove below the village of Spartahori, via Katomeri, an inland village that is an hour’s walk away through magnificent countryside, and then down the hill to Vathy.
There is a good beach at Ayios Ioannis with a convenient small taverna on hand. It's a good place to unwind with an afternoon of swimming and snorkeling.
