Abelike Bay Meganissi Yacht Charters
Between Vathi and Port Atheni lies Abelike Bay. The cove is blissfully peaceful, surrounded by olive groves and clear water. An afternoon anchored at Abeliki Bay swimming and admiring the beauty of the mythological Ionian Sea will be remembered long after you return home.
There are no facilities at Abeliki Bay and, indeed, that is part of its charm. It is a good place for a barbecue on the beach, just ensure that you build your fire well away from the trees and keep a bucket of water handy (just in case!).
Mooring:
- The bay is relatively deep – 26-40 feet (8-12m) - rising abruptly to the shore.
- The best strategy is to anchor and take a long line ashore to a tree or a rock
- The bottom is mud and weed with decent holding once you get through the weed
- During the day, the bay is relatively sheltered but in the evening a katabatic wind from the north east can make things a little uncomfortable.
