Peredika

Peredika, on the south-western tip of Egina, is the most picturesque village on the island. Perched on the edge of a little bay that is the kind of place that you imagine when you close your eyes and imagine a perfect anchorage in the Greek islands. The waterfront esplanade overlooks Moni islet and the Pelepponese and is where everything happens in Peredika. It’s a fine place to pull up a chair, order a cold drink and a plate of delicious simply grilled fish and soak it all up.

Life really does not get much better than this – it’s the kind of memory that’ll keep you going over the long, dark winter months until it’s time to start thinking about booking another Peredika Flotilla.  The pale limestone islet of Moni is run as a nature conservation area and much of the island is fenced off, but the waters around it are beautifully clear and it’s well worth taking the dinghy over for a swim. Elsewhere on the island, Egina Town is noted for its grand neo-classical buildings and that attracts a sophisticated yachtie crowd, drawn by its reputation for good food and drink as well as a lively bazaar that those in need of a shopping fix may want to explore.

The Doric Temple of Aphaea is the most important historical site on the island. It stands on a pine-covered hill and on a clear day you can see Athens, Cap Sounion Bay, the Pelepponese and Hydra. It re-dates the Parthenon and is one of the most complete and elaborate buildings remaining from Ancient Greece and, as such, a visit to see it for yourself is a real highlight of your Epidavros Flotilla to Peredika. Egina has many lovely beaches and anchorages to pull into for a swim and snorkel as you cruise its stunning clear waters.
