Anse Royal Mahe

The calm turquoise waters and sheltered reef create the ideal location for a spot of swimming and snorkeling. The best area for exploring the colorful underwater eco-system here lies between Point au Sel, Ile Souris and Anse Royale. The reef itself is teaming with colorful zebrafish, batfish, trumpet fish and sea turtles; and the eye-catching corals of brain and staghorn create a colorful kingdom of marine life just waiting for you to explore.

Back ashore the white-sand beach scattered with huge granite boulders divides Anse Royale into a series of private coves, creating the perfect spot for lazy lunch shaded from the warm Seychelles sun by the takamaka and palm trees. Sit back and relax as the gentle breezes and sounds of the Ocean wave over you as you watch the odd Ghost crab scuttle past.

If you feel like exploring inland, you’ll find a craft village located in the restored plantation house or just north of the beach is La Marine Model Boat Center. A small naval museum and production line, that creates exquisite miniature replicas of sailing ships from teak and rosewood.

Things to do

  • Swimming, snorkeling and relaxing are the main attractions of Anse Royale but for a culture fix, exploring away from the beach you’ll find a craft village in the old plantation house.
  • La Marine Model Boat Center. The Kings Garden, a spice garden with pepper, cinnamon and clove. Plus a nine-hole golf course.
