Marsh Harbour Yacht Charters & Rentals

Sunsail’s base in the Bahamas is at Marsh Harbour, on Great Abaco Island, and is ideally located as a starting point for an exploration of all that the Bahamas has to offer. Marsh Harbour is the third largest town in the Bahamas, and the ‘bright lights, big city’ of the Out Islands (even though it only has one set of traffic lights!). The town has a great range of shops and is a fine place to stock up on provisions before setting sail on your Marsh Harbour yacht charter. If you want to explore the interior of the island the Sunsail team will be able to point you in the direction of a good car or bike rental company.

Divers will be spoilt for choice here. Close by, the Abacos Train Wreck makes an interesting shore dive. Part of a Union train, the locomotives were seized by the Confederates who sold them to Cuba, only for the barge transporting them to their new home to run aground on the reef in 1865. Divers will also be interested in the wreck of the Adirondack and in the Sea Preserve and Fowl Cay Land, teeming with sea-life around the shallow reefs.

There is good snorkeling at Mermaid Reef and Beach on Pelican Shores, west of the Marsh Harbour Marina and reachable on foot. About twenty nautical miles south of Marsh Harbour lies the remote and beautiful Pelican Cays National Park, where the coral reefs, undersea caves and drop-offs offer divers and snorkelers a spectacular underwater adventure. The deserted sands are great for a spot of swimming and beachcombing.
