Sailing is such an exciting and rewarding leisure activity and an invaluable skill to have. We can help you develop these skills through practical Royal Yacht Association sailing courses at all our Clubs, for all experience levels.

The up and coming sailors of the future can also give the adults a run for their money on the water with our popular RYA Youth Sailing Program.

Kids’ Sailing Program 2006

Younger children can benefit from our Kids’ Sailing Program, where all abilities will be encouraged to develop their skills on the water including rigging up, tacking, gybing, wind awareness, steering and capsize recovery.

This program is free and runs at every Club as part of the kids’ club daily activities (this sailing program is aimed at 5 – 17 year olds), providing a minimum of an hour a day on the water with our professional instructors.

Dinghy and Catamaran Courses

Available for all adults and children 13 years+: All season

2 Day RYA Start Sailing

A short introduction to sailing for complete beginners, covering the minimum knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. It will give you a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge.
3 pupils per instructor.

2 Day RYA Basic Skills

This course is an introduction to sailing techniques and manoeuvres, rigging, launching, safety, capsize recovery and basic rules of the road.
3 pupils per instructor.

2 Day RYA Sailing with Spinnakers

On completion of this course you will understand how to sail a dinghy rigged with an asymmetric sail.
3 pupils per instructor.

2 Day Catamaran Course

Available at Club Vounaki, Club Javelin and Club Colonna
Learn and experience exhilarating catamaran sailing.
2 pupils per instructor.

RYA Youth Sailing Program

Stages 1, 2 and 3

Available to children 8-12 years: All season

2 Day Start Sailing Stage 1

For complete beginners, learn to steer and understand the basic principles of sailing. 3 pupils per instructor.

2 Day Start Sailing Stage 2

For those who already understand the basic principles, learn to tack and control the speed of the boat.
3 pupils per instructor.

2 Day Start Sailing Stage 3

Learn further skills including rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery and sailing theory. On completion of this course you will be able to sail in moderate conditions.
3 pupils per instructor.

RYA Powerboat course

Available to all adults and children 12 years+: All season at Club Colonna, Club Javelin and Club Vounaki (depending on weather conditions).

2 Day Level 2 Powerboat

This course will provide you with boat driving skills at basic competence level covering launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery. Those candidates under the age of 16 will be issued an endorsed certificate.
3 pupils per instructor.

Yacht Sailing course

Available to all adults and children 15 years+: All season

3 Day Flotilla Training Course

Available at all Mediterranean Clubs and our charter base in Antigua for Club Colonna, this course teaches you the basics in yacht sailing to give you the skills to sail on flotilla.
